Leuchtturm1917 Sketchbook Master A4+

The Leuchtturm1917 Sketchbook Master (A4+) gives you more room than you strictly need, which is rather the point. At 225 by 316 millimetres it opens to a spread wide enough for a full composition, and the 150 g/m² cartridge paper is substantial enough that you stop worrying about what you put on it. Pencil, ink, marker, charcoal and pastel all sit on the surface without buckling it.

The board covers give it a rigidity you can feel through your fingertips, so you draw on your knee without needing a desk underneath. Thread binding lets it lie flat from the first page, and a gusseted pocket at the back swallows loose sketches and reference scraps. The paper is pure white and entirely unruled — nothing printed to argue with your line.
