Pilot Prera Transparent Fountain Pen

The Pilot Prera Transparent Fountain Pen keeps nothing back. Its clear acrylic barrel puts the ink, the feed and the converter on full display, finished at each end with a wash of translucent colour. Just over 120mm capped and a shade above 14 grams, it is small without ever being fiddly, and the snap cap closes with a short, decisive click that tells you the nib is sealed.

The resin section is smooth and quick to warm in your hand, narrow enough to sit naturally between your fingers without any adjustment. Unposted it very nearly disappears; posted, the balance settles back a little, which suits a long letter better than a quick note. You watch the ink level drop day by day — which sounds like a novelty until the first time it stops you running dry mid-sentence.

Calligraphy Medium (CM) is a flat, stub-shaped nib of roughly 1mm, giving thick downstrokes and thin cross-strokes for a broader, more expressive hand.
